Gold Silk Black Tea-3 JPG

Dianhong gold silk is a gourmet Chinese black tea native to Yunnan Province. The name if given because of the large amount of fine golden hairs on the leaf tips present in the dried tea. The average sea level of the tea plantations in Yunnan is above 1000 meters. The climate is warm throughout the year, around 22c. The land is blessed with fertile conditions perfect for tea growth. Jin Si Dian Hong is a full, rich black tea from the Yunnan province. The taste is wild, peppery but sweet and floral at the same time. It has a low level of bitterness and it might remind you of tobacco.

During third century BC, the central area of Yunnan, around present day Kunming (major city), was known as Dian. The name Dian Hong means "Yunnan Black tea". Often Yunnan black teas are referred to as Dian Hong teas. Yunnan black teas vary in their flavor and appearance. Some grades have more golden buds and a very sweet and gentle aroma without astringency. Others make a darker, brown brew that is bright, uplifting and slightly sharp. You may add milk to this tea (a longer steeping time is needed to acquire enough astringency to balance the milk).

To the outstanding taste features of Yunnan jinsi black tea adds a range desirable health effects that are generally attributed to black tea. Among these are an increase of physical and mental capacity, lowering of high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, general circulation stimulation and weight loss support. The high tannin content of black tea is supposedly also responsible for therapeutic effects in gastritis and other gastrointestinal diseases.  Beyond this, black tea is rich in natural fluorides that allegely promote a long teeth health and life.

Brewing Method

We recommend dosing 2-3 grams of tea leaves per 100ml of water, firstly, pour boiling water over the tea leaves in the pot, then let it steep for 3-5 minutes for a delicious first infusion, after such first steep, a second, 5-minute infusion will still reward you with full taste.
