According to customs statistics, China will export 375,200 tons of tea in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%, with an export value of US$2.082 billion and an average price of US$5.55/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 9.42% and 10.77% respectively.

1, The export situation of each tea category

In terms of tea categories, green tea (313,900 tons) is still the main force of China tea export, while black tea (33,200 tons), oolong tea (19,300 tons), scented tea (6,500 tons) and black tea (04,000 tons) export growth, The largest increase of black tea was 12.35%, and the largest drop of Pu’er tea (0.19 million tons) was 11.89%.

2, Key Market Exports 

In 2022, China tea will be exported to 126 countries and regions, and most of the major markets will have strong demand. The top 10 export markets are Morocco, Uzbekistan, Ghana, Russia, Senegal, the United States, Mauritania, Hong Kong, Algeria and Cameroon. The export of tea to Morocco was 75,400 tons, an increase of 1.11% year-on-year, accounting for 20.1% of China’s total tea exports; the largest increase in exports to Cameroon was 55.76%, and the largest decrease in exports to Mauritania was 28.31%.

3, Exports of key provinces and cities

In 2022, the top ten provinces and cities of my country’s tea exports are Zhejiang, Anhui, Hunan, Fujian, Hubei, Jiangxi, Chongqing, Henan, Sichuan and Guizhou. Among them, Zhejiang ranks first in terms of export volume, accounting for 40.98% of the country’s total tea export volume, and Chongqing’s export volume has the largest increase of 69.28%; Fujian’s export volume ranks first, accounting for 25.52% of the country’s total tea export volume.

Tea Import

According to customs statistics, my country will import 41,400 tons of tea in 2022, with an amount of US$147 million and an average price of US$3.54/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 11.67%, 20.87%, and 10.38% respectively.

1, Imports of various teas 

In terms of tea categories, imports of green tea (8,400 tons), mate tea (116 tons), Puer tea (138 tons) and black tea (1 ton) increased by 92.45%, 17.33%, 3483.81% and 121.97% respectively year-on-year; black tea (30,100 tons), oolong tea (2,600 tons) and scented tea (59 tons) decreased, of which scented tea dropped the most by 73.52%.

2, Imports from key markets

In 2022, my country will import tea from 65 countries and regions, and the top five import markets are Sri Lanka (11,600 tons), Myanmar (5,900 tons), India (5,700 tons), Indonesia (3,800 tons) and Vietnam (3,200 tons), the largest drop in imports from Vietnam was 41.07%.

In 2022, the top ten provinces and cities of China tea imports are Fujian, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Beijing, Anhui and Shandong, of which Yunnan’s import volume has increased significantly by 133.17%.
